January Update: Transforming Communities Together

Thank you for your support!

At Transformation, we believe that when we work together, we can create lasting change, supporting one another and building a stronger, more compassionate community.

Let’s continue transforming lives, together!

Impact

During 2024 we provided:

  • 134,320 meals
  • £10,755 crisis funding
  • 349 Christmas food parcels
  • 2,000 wrapped Christmas gifts

A huge THANK YOU

To all our incredible donors and to our volunteers who wrapped Christmas presents, packed festive food parcels and ensured they were delivered in time for Christmas!

Because of your kindness and dedication, families and individuals facing hardship were able to experience the joy and warmth of the season.

Your efforts brought smiles, comfort and a true sense of community to those who needed it most.

At Transformation, we are constantly inspired by the generosity of our donors and volunteers - regular and seasonal. You are the heart of everything we do, and we couldn’t have made this Christmas special without you.

Testimonials

"The staff and organisation really do a superb job at making people feel welcome, appreciated and just talking. And interacting makes me feel better within myself."

Community Hubs

Our Community Hubs run alongside four of our six Food Bank sessions, providing a welcoming space where people can access extra support. Invited professionals offer guidance and we provide refreshments in a supportive environment.

Alongside tackling food poverty, we address fuel poverty and financial hardship through services such as debt counselling, crisis funding, nutritional advice, and parenting courses - helping individuals work towards a stable and fulfilling life.

January is a busy time in our Community Hubs.

These warm, welcoming spaces are hosting regular visits from professionals offering advice, information and guidance on a range of topics...

Volunteer Voices

We are thrilled to share that Tina and David Wheeler, two of our incredible volunteers at Transformation, were nominated and invited to attend The Princess of Wales’s annual ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service at Westminster Abbey in December.

This special event, supported by The Royal Foundation, celebrates love, kindness and empathy – qualities Tina and David embody every day through their tireless dedication to helping others in our community.

The service, now in its fourth year, brought together 1,600 guests, including Members of The Royal Family, at the iconic Westminster Abbey. It shone a light on people across the UK who make a difference in their communities, featuring beautiful carols by the Westminster Abbey Choir and performances from Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.

We asked Tina and David to share their experience with us, in their own words... "Early in December we considered ourselves very lucky to be chosen to represent Transformation CPR at the Princess of Wales' Carol Service in Westminster Abbey, shown on ITV on Christmas Eve.

We arrived at the Abbey and joined the queue of excited people which wound around two sides of the building. Inside the gates we were greeted by a steel band and mince pies and a gorgeous Christmas tree already covered in red labels bearing messages to anyone we wanted to thank for their kindness (the theme of the service).

Inside, the Abbey was decked out in glorious red. Red wreaths hung on the walls and Christmas trees donated by the King and covered with red decorations were all around. Whilst waiting for the ceremony to begin we had a chance to spot the many celebrities who joined us in the nave. We're not so hot on who is who but luckily the lady next to us knew who everyone was! Last to enter were Princess Catherine looking lovely in a striking red coat with a big black bow, Prince William and their three children (who we did recognise).

Before the service began the candles everyone had been given were lit and then we joined the choir to sing Once in Royal David's City. Gregory Porter then filled the Abbey with his great voice, later followed by Paloma Faith and the charming Olivia Dean. There were readings by the Prince of Wales, Richard E. Grant, Michelle Dockery and Adam Peaty. Children from the Royal Ballet School danced in the aisle and short films were shown highlighting the work of two of the charities represented. More carols were sung, prayers were said, and all too quickly it was over. It was a truly magical experience.

Getting home was eventful on the day of storm Darragh but we made it by bedtime!"

Inside Transformation

This Christmas, we had the pleasure of hosting a festive coffee morning for the residents of Trevithick Court. With the help of LiveWest, we decorated the social room and created a warm, festive atmosphere. Residents enjoyed refreshments, a fun-filled Christmas quiz and a lively game of festive bingo - everyone joined in and had a wonderful time!

To make the morning even more special, each resident received a small Christmas gift as a token of our appreciation. The event was a great success, and we’ve already started planning for 2025 with exciting ideas such as crafts, chair yoga and even some singing!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a joyful celebration!
